Party Plan

Guests arrive at the party as little girls
and leave as princesses. Party Games
(mini royal classes) ends with a
Graduation ceremony including a
diploma and tiara! A party with style

And it is DIFFERENT…

This is a unique, clever and very different party theme. Mini classes in Princess etiquette are actually short party games that involve all the guests. A Princess Repot Card is kept by each Princess-to-Be and turned in at the end of the party in order to earn a Tiara and the official title of “Princess”.

Invitations

Some themes, such as Disney Princesses or Cinderella, offer pre-printed colorful invitations with fill-in blanks to make life easier. If your time permits, make your own invitations by using parchment or onion-skin paper (stationary store), pre-print using a computer with an Italic font, and glue lace around the edges. Optional: glue on fake gem stones, sequins, etc. for a colorful effect. Purchase larger-than-the-invitation sized envelopes and hand-write each guest’s name and address. Sample invitation wording:

Royal Mini Classes
(party games)

The “classes” are actually party activities and games. Below is a list of game ideas, but it is best to only select a few (it is suggested that a party be about 2 hours, including the “Happy Birthday Song, cake and opening gifts). The classes will need a leader, so Mom, you can be the “QUEEN MOTHER” to demonstrate each activity and to distribute “Princess Report Cards” to each guest to mark that the classes have been completed. Provide pens to each guest that are take-home party favors by gluing a small feather to a colored ballpoint pen that is attached to the report card (use lightweight stock and pre-print on the computer prior to the party).

* How to Courtesy with a Book
The Queen Mother shows everyone how to bow… holds her hands out to the side, bends at the knees and lowers the whole body almost to the floor. The catch: each guest has a book balanced on her head and has to courtesy while without the book falling off her head. Each guest has three turns.

* How to Wear a Tiara
The Queen Mother demonstrates how to place a tiara on the head so that she can bend forward, backward and sideways without the small crown falling off her head. Each guest has three turns. The catch: the tiara is made of a wobbly balloon that is decorated with glitter, rhinestones, etc. Where the end of the balloon is tied off to keep the balloon inflated, attach a weight of some sort that makes it difficult to stay on the head.

* How to Wear a Long Dress
The Queen Mother, using a fancy shower curtain (Burlington Coat Factory has very inexpensive but decorative shower curtains that are fabulous!), ties it around her neck or waist, shows how to sit, stand and walk in a long ‘gown’. Each guest has three tries to walk, stand (model for a minute or so) and sit, rise and walk back to where she started. The catch: Each guest has the shower curtain length 3 inches or so longer than her height and has to walk without tripping.

* How to Smile
The Queen Mother commands each guest (take turns) to stand before the rest of the princess class and demonstrate a smile. The catch: Each girl is given one smile and has three tries to do her very best. Smile ideas include a “stupid smile”, a “scary smile”, a “happy smile”, a “frowning smile”, an “intelligent smile”, etc.

* How to Wear Gloves
Seek a pair of long gloves (covers the hand and extends up to the elbow” from a retro or costume shop and some inexpensive costume jewelry (large-sized rings and bracelets) prior to the party. The Queen Mother demonstrates how to put the glove on and take it off in a very feminine style. Each girl has three tries. The catch: Rubber bands are placed on the outside fingers of each glove and the girls have to put on the glove while wriggling their fingers into each slot that is tied off with a rubber band, making it more difficult. AND the princess-to-be must smile and be sweet.

* How to Waltz
Select music from Beauty & the Beast, Cinderella, etc. prior to the party. Each girl should get a different song and slow or fast dance to the beat of the song. The Queen Mother can demonstrate how to waltz princess-style. The catch: Start each song in its regular beat and when the guest starts dancing, increase the speed so it is really fast, then slow it down. Each girl gets one song and dances however she feels the song beat requires.

* How to Pick Up a Toothpick
Sounds simple, huh? The guest picking up the most toothpicks gets an A-PLUS for this class. The catch: The guest must use her toes and has three turns, adding up the number of toothpicks from the three turns into one total. The toothpicks should be scattered around to make this task more difficult and, of course, the students must be graceful!

* How to Eat a Piece of Cake
Simply demonstrated by the Queen Mother holding the plate with a slice of cake. Each girl walks princess-style to the cake table, takes a piece of cake on a plate, walks slowly to a chair, sits, crosses her legs and slowly eats the cake. The catch: Each girl must stick our the ‘pinky’ finger on each hand while she eats and has to cross, uncross and cross her legs three times before eating all of the cake.

Princess Report Cards
Pre-print using a computer onto lightweight cardstock by listing each class that will be held at the party. The top of the card: Add name of the guest, party details and areas to e checked (Excellent Performance, Outstanding Performance, Failed, etc.). Provide pens to each guest that are take-home party favors by gluing a small feather to a colored ballpoint pen that is attached to the report card (use lightweight stock and pre-print on the computer prior to the party).

Tiara Decorating Activity
Provide paper or ready-made tiaras, glue and a variety of decorations (glitter, rhinestones, etc.). After the tiaras are decorated, each guest wears their tiara and models them in a fashion show.

Happy Birthday Princess Song
Ask everyone to add the word “princess” before the birthday girls’ name; then the song is sung to each guest, separately, but instead of “happy birthday”, everyone sings “Happy Princess Day”. Object: everyone gets the song sung to them individually by the group.

Princess Cake Decorations
Easy as it gets! Either make a frosted cake, cupcakes, cookies or buy them already made from the local bakery, Costco, etc. and simply add any or several of these fun and wonderful decorations:

Princess Foods & Beverages
Any foods the girls would like (by ages) and “NAME” each of the food items with a “princess” name, ie: Princess Cinderella’s Hamburgers, Belle’s Jell-O, etc. Besides the names of princess, use the word “pink” and “lavender”, too.

Princess Take-Home Party Favors
Simple inexpensive party favors can include

Film Premiere While Having Cake and Opening Gifts
Select a video or CD that is a princess theme, such as Barbie Princess, Snow White or the Princess Diary. This is a good time for quiet while the guests eat cake and the birthday girl opens her gifts. Because this is a premier, the girls should walk to the movie room gracefully, slowly, just like a princess and must sit upon the floor, chairs and sofas in a very dignified manner.

Princess Graduation Celebration
The end of the party is Tiara-Crowning… each guest bows before the PRINCESS BIRTHDAY GIRL and the QUEEN MOTHER. While the guest is in the courtesy position, the Princess places a tiara (party favor) on the girls’ head and says aloud that “(guest name” is now to be known as “Princess (guest name)”. The Queen Mother asks the new princess to rise and hands her the official princess diploma! Each guest is called before the Royal Princess and Queen one at a time.

Princess Diploma
Pre-print a diploma onto parchment paper using an italic font prior to the party, leaving the name blank so the guest name can be handwritten to make it official. The diploma can be presented as is or rolled up and tied with a pink ribbon. Below is a sample diploma wording:

Thank You Party Photo

Using a pre-printed party photo backdrop (Cinderella, Disney Princess, etc. from a party supply shop, such as www.thepartyworks.com and hang on the wall. While being a fabulously large wall decoration and used in the birthday girl’s bedroom after the party is over, the guests can all gather for group photos and individual photos. Include the photo with the Thank You Note as a reminder they are all princesses!
