Invitations:
Buy or make your own
invitations by cutting a strawberry shape from red cardstock. Cut the stem part
from green cardstock and glue onto "strawberry". Dot the strawberry with
'seeds'. Add the party information on the back. For added fun, spray the card
lightly with strawberry-scented spray for a sweet smelling treat.
Use any of the Strawberry Shortcake quotes, such as this one:
"Sometimes They're
Tiny,
Sometimes They're Tall.
But Friends Are The
'Berry'Best People Of
All.
Come and have a Strawberry
Day
When (name of child)
celebrates
their Berry Special Birthday
at the Strawberry
Patch

to be held
on
(date of event)
at
(time of event)
You'll have a berry good time!
Decorations:
Overall Room Decorations: Use balloons, streamers, and solid partygoods in the colors of Red, Pink and Green or use some or all of the cutest party supplies created for just for Strawberry Shortcake. Inflate the red balloons and add dots of black to represent the 'seeds' and add green curling ribbon. Hang paper or nylon butterflies on fishing line (almost invisible to the eyes).
Centerpieces:
Fill small baskets or bushel baskets with green Easter grass or any type of
green shredded tissue paper and add artificial strawberries (optional: use real
strawberries). Use tissue paper flowers or use artificial strawberry vine
garlands to accent the tables. If you own any of the Strawberry Shortcake dolls
or toys, use them to accent and enhance your decor, placing the dolls around the
party area and/or on the tables.
Cake
Ideas:
Make REAL strawberry shortcakes... a great recipe is the one on the box of Bisquick.
Provide individual mini shortcakes (make in muffin pan) and let the guests create their own using fresh strawberries, strawberry glaze and whipped topping. This could be one of the party activities.
Cupcakes: Use a
strawberry cake mix. Use homemade white frosting or purchase ready-made frosting
in a can from your grocery store. Stir in pink food coloring (paste is the best
to use because it does not water down the frosting). Optional, stir in
strawberry preserves. Frost with the cake and add fresh strawberries to the
top.
Embrossed heart-shaped mini cakes (flat on one side) are fun to make and
decorate or make Rice Krispies treats, brownies, even heart-shaped ice cream. http://thepartyworks.com/product_info.php/cPath/3_6/products_id/3445

Goodie Bags:
http://thepartyworks.com/product_info.php/cPath/17_217/products_id/2040
Sew strawberry design fabric with a green
drawstring or use red material and color in the seeds.
On a small canvas
bag, stamp strawberries using a foam shape found in craft stores and personalize
it with indelible fabric pens.. For older children, provide the bag, stamp, ink
and fabric pens letting the kids create their own special take-home usable bag
-- this is a neat party activity. ( The bag can also be the 'loot bag' to
hold other party favors.)
Fill a small bushel basket or wicker basket with Strawberry Shortcake party favors, such as sunglasses, blowouts, bracelet, bubbles, lip gloss, necklaces, compact mirrors, bracelets, silly straws, strawberry candies and/or a kitten bean bag (Custard).

Prizes:

Shortcake coloring books or activity books
Small Strawberry Shortcake doll or
toy

Strawberry Shortcake party favors
(necklace, charm bracelet, sunglasses, etc.)
Games and
Activities:
Make Strawberry Shortcake hats using large straw hats from your craft store or for a $1.49 at Michael's (prices may vary in other geographical locations). Add pink gossamer streamers and red curling ribbons. Accent with a strawberry pin or make your own strawberry accessories using fun foam with markers to add the seeds. Glue on a small safety pin to the back of your foam strawberry to attach to the hat. This can be made for the special birthday girl, party favors for all the guests or be a party activity for older children to decorate the hats themselves -- then have a Fashion Show for the girls to show off their hat!
Huckleberry Says -- played just like Simon Says. Create rules using character names, such as
Pin the tail on Honey Pie Pony -- Draw a large scale drawing of Honey Pie Pony (or any other character). Make the 'tail' from sticky Post-It Notes (guests can print their name on the back). Guests are blindfolded, spun around and walk to place their tail on the poster.
Berry Bean Bag Toss Game -- Use recycled green plastic strawberry baskets from the grocery store. Attach numbers to each basket (game points). Create handmade strawberry bean bags (5 or 6). Bean bags can be made out of red felt and fill with dry beans. Add black strawberry seeds with a permant marker, if you wish. Children take turns tossing the same number of bags into the baskets. Hint: add rocks to each basket to keep them stable and not fall over when the bean bags are tossed into them.
Rotten Strawberry -- So cute, this is played just Like Hot Potato -- pass around a strawberry bean bag, a small Strawberry Shortcake toy or a red balloon with black dots (strawberry seeds). Ask the children to make a circle. When the music stops, whoever is holding the bean bag or toy is stuck with the rotten strawberry and is out of the game. Start the music, players continue to pass around the rotten strawberry till the music stops and that player is out. Continue playing until only one child is left.
Strawberry Field - Fill a large basket with green Easter grass or green shreddy tissue paper. Hide small toys, candies and trinkets in the grass. Kids take turns "picking" something out of the strawberry patch. Another version is to hide small pieces of posterboard with numbers on them. Each number designates a certain prize (trinket, party favor, cupcake, etc.) -- everyone is a winner!
Berry Patch Hunt --
This is a Treasure Hunt that is great for the outdoors, but it can be set up
indoors as well. Prior to the party, set-up the hunt (so the guests will not
know where the hints and prizes are) . String a ball of green yarn
(strawberry vines) around your yard, making sure to go around, through,
under, and over as many objects as possible. The better the maze, the more fun
kids will have unraveling the vines. Begin stringing the vine at a convenient
spot to hide the final prize. Work your way backwards, hiding favors, fun
messages and/or hints about the prize along the way. Keep in mind that the place
where you finish stringing the yarn is the spot where the children will begin.
Make the trail of yard lead to a large basket filled with the goodie bags, to a
specific prize or to the birthday cake.
