BASE CONSISTENCY 3 tbs meringue powder 1 lb sifted confectioners' sugar 5=6 tbs lukewarm water 1 tsp flavoring like vanilla, lemon, orange, almond or cherry) Combine all ingredients. Mix with electric mixer 5 to 6 min. on high speed.
- Easy to make and hardens so well that you can stack your cookies without smudging... This recipe should give you a good outline consistency. If it seems too thick then add water one tablespoon at a time. If it seems to thin, add confectioners' sugar a tablespoon at a time. Combine all ingredients. Mix with electric mixer 5 to 6 min. on high speed. This icing dries very quickly, keep portions you are not using well covered. Also place filled decorating bags that you aren't using upside down in a glass with a wet paper towel in the bottom. FLOW CONSISTENCY To make flow icing you need to fill in the cookies after outlining you will need to thin the base with 3 to 4 tbs of additional water. Fill outlined cookies with a spatula or a bag using a #5 tip. Adding color - use gel or paste coloring - you will want to tint only a little at a time and remember to keep covered.
