My twin sons celebrated their third birthday this month (Jan 2010) with a musical birthday party. I created a cake for each. The boys were thrilled (each choose their own instrument) and all of the kids at the party had an opinion on which cake they wanted taste! Very sweet.
NOTE: I used everyday items that you can find in the grocery store or in your pantry to help create these adorable cakes - like the miniature thin mint for the guitar “hole”, candy dots, licorice laces, junior mints, pretzel sticks for the frets and Keebler fudge sticks for the black piano keys. I did the same with their 2nd birthday trains. I used a train cake pan, but filled the cars with assorted candies. It made it a little more fun and a little more interesting ~ especially for the kids. - just use your imagination!
