Dollie Tea Party
(or a Doll Baby Shower)
Invitations:
Ask each guest to bring their special Friend - their favorite doll. If this is a doll "baby shower", ask each guest to bring something for a the Hostesses' doll (state type of doll and size on the invitation and suggest gifts, such as a hat, diapers, rattle, etc.)
Decorations:
Use a child size table (coffee or end table, even a box) and cover it with a lace table cloth. Set the table with china (bread and butter plates), tea cups and a tea pot. (If you don't want to use your best china or don't have any, mix/match tea cups from your local Goodwill or thrift shop).
Food:
Serve hot chocolate. Use a silver-plated tiered candy tray to serve pink and white animal cookies and chocolate mint cookies. Use a small vase filled with a few flowers as a centerpiece.
Other food ideas:
Scones, croissants, jam and mock Devonshire cream! Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches cut into shapes with cookie cutters.
Another easy, yummy and delicious treat is dipping Maraschino cherries or strawberries into chocolate, let them dry on wax paper before serving. (Melt chocolate chips in a mug in the microwave and stir; let the kids do the dipping)
CAKE:
Serve pastel pink frosted cupcakes with "pink and white snowballs" (a scoop of pink ice cream rolled in coconut and served in a cupcake liner-made beforehand for no scooping during the party!!!
DRESS-Up BOX
Go to rummage or yard sales and buy old lacey dresses, jewelry, scarves, fancy hats and shoes to provide a Dress-Up Box for the guests to select their own partywear and have a Fashion Show.
Party Favors :
Buy a children's china tea set (or plastic) and wrap one tea cup and saucer, fill the tea cup with Jelly Beans or other small pastel candies. Using Tulle (nylon netting), wrap the teacup and saucer inside it and tie with a curly ribbon.
Hats:
Provide each guest with a small hat (you can use paper party hats) to fit their doll. Let the girls decorate these also.
Sachets:
Need: Material or lace, potpourri, ribbon, glue or gluegun Let the girls make their own sachets to take home.
TEAPOT GAME
Use large tea pot (or large pot)
On small pieces of paper, write one crazy thing to do, such as, "Walk around the table on your hands," or "Skip around the room waving your arms like a bird," or "Stand on a chair and sing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star".
Have the guests take turns selecting one piece of paper from the Tea Pot and performing what the paper says - sort of like Charades.
