This unique party favor was created by a great group of ladies that have been meeting once a week for years crafting items for their children, homes, schools, parties and gifts. Eventually their children grew-up but these ladies continued to meet... the crafts changed to sewing projects... and now for the rest of the story in Diane Pucketts's own words: "We used to call our night out Stitching Night, then I'm afraid we started calling it Stichin/Bitchin Nite... then I got a hot tub which we use some nights when we met and my kids started calling it "Stitchin Bitchin Swimming Women" and it kind of stuck... ". (instructions below)
Use cocktail-sized napkins and fold down the corner about 3/4ths of the way to the opposite corner and press down. Fold the side pieces until it resembles a diaper. Pull up the bottom piece and pin with a small-sized gold safety pin. Melt paraffin wax (found in the grocery store) in a double boiler (or use two slightly different sizes of old saucepans). Use metal tongs to hold the diaper by the back side and dip in the wax thoroughly coating all surfaces. Gently shake off excess melted wax and stand the diaper up on a wax-paper lined cookie sheet. The diapers take about 20 minutes to dry. Fill with peanuts or mints and listed to all those oohs and aaahs!
