Alice in Wonderland Party

Invitations
- Make into the shape of a teacup or teapot.
- Make into the shape of a top.
- Use a deck of cards. Write party details on the back or print out lables with the info and stick on the back of the card. Or attach a note to a tea bag.
Wording
- Don't be late for a very important date. We are celebrating (child's name)'s very merry unbirthday. By order of the Queen of Hearts, you are here by summoned to attend. Add the rest of the party details.
- Ask guests to come dressed as their favorite character from the story. The birthday girl can be Alice.
- Or ask guests to come wearing a silly hat.
Decorations
- Use balloons and streamers in a pale blue and white to match Alice's dress.
- Set up for a tea party in Wonderland. During the tea party at impromtu times, announce to the guests that it's time to move down one seat or run around the table, etc.
- Tea cups/saucers. Use doilies and tulle to decorate the table settings.
- Use silver serving trays and tiered stands.
- Large teapot centerpiece with a small stuffed mouse peeking out.
- Hang paper lanterns.
- String jumbo playing card to make your own "streamers".
- Make very large playing cards out of posterboard.
- Use lawn flamingos.
- Artificial flower garlands with red roses.
Or make tissue paper flowers.
- Use top hats turned upside down for serving snacks.
- Make arrow signs that read, "THIS WAY", " THAT WAY", etc.
- Make and glue together a house of cards for a centerpiece.
Cake or Cupcakes
- Make "mushroom" cupcakes.
- Make mini cupcakes and label them "EAT ME".
- Make a cake in the shape of a tea pot or make a Mad Hatter's Hat shaped cake.
- Make a playing card cake from a plain white sheet cake. Use icing in red and black to add the details to the card.
Food and Tea Party Snacks
- finger sandwiches with the crusts cut off.
- tea or lemonade served out of the teapot.
- small cookies label "EAT ME".
- Use Kool Aid Bursts squeezeable drinks and tie a note on that reads "DRINK ME".
- any type of finger foods
Games and Activities
- Pin the Grin on the Chesire Cat.
- Paint the Roses Red. Print out coloring pages with roses on them. Give out red crayons for kids to color their roses. First to finish wins.
- Play lawn croquet.
- Play some card games like Old Maid or Go Fish.
- The Queen Says, played like Simon Says.
- Construct a maze out of cardboard boxes for the children to go through.
- Play Pass the Teapot, played like hot potato.
- Decorate handled mirrors. Provide paints, stickers, etc. for children to use.
- Musical Mad Hatter's Hats. Played like musical chairs. Set out hats on chairs.
The children walk around them when the music plays. When the music stops, they must get a hat on and sit in the chair.
Goodie Bags and Prizes
- A white rabbit bean bag or plush animal.
- Toy pocket watch.
- A copy of the Alice in Wonderland storybook.
- A small tea set.
- A deck of playing cards or a card game or mini playing cards.
- Silly hats.
- A mini watercolor set.
- Red heart shaped lollipops.
