Default Mothers Tea Idea would be cute for a baby shower too!

I just threw a Mothers Tea for the graduating class of 2007. It was a blast and very easy! We had a SUMMER Theme. This would be so cute for a baby shower too!

We used plastic table covers that we drew (using a sharpie) a game board on resembling the Game of Life. We made it college life. We taped large confetti pieces in the shape of turtles, starfish, swirls etc. on some of the squares and had a start and finish line. I got big foam dice from Oriental Trading and Rubber Duckies from our shop for the game pieces. Each person decorated their duck or put their name on the duck with a sharpie so they could easily identify their duck. We made game cards with college life sayings like Roommate locked you out go back 2 spaces or you aced your test move ahead 3 spaces or you didn't blow up the lab in chemistry class move ahead 1 space etc.

I used plastic sand castle shape pails with the shovels attached to the handles. Put in two plants (marigolds) and had balloons attached to the handles too... One large mylar with 3 latex balloons in the bouquet. There was also a fly swatter with fun foam shapes like fish or frogs or lady bugs etc in each bucket.

We had a dessert table set up which the mothers from last years senior class donated a dessert to fill the table and we had punch, tea and coffee available too!

When they arrived I had them sign in and pick up their silk orchid corsage (a silk orchid from Oriental Trading and a safety pin). They sat at their tables (round tables with 8 people per table) and after everyone was seated I told them to decorate their ducks and then go get their refreshments. When every one was back in their seats I explained the rules of the game and told them the object was to win the game and the prize was the centerpiece. They were thrilled! Everyone at the table no matter if they knew each other or not had to interact - made it quite fun and there was a lot of chatter... everyone had a blast.
