SCOTTISH SASH
CAKE

Created & Decorated by
Ms. Angie Rombeck-Smith

This cake was made with a 10 and 12 inch round and iced in butter cream.  The flower is the thistle which is the flower for Scotland.  I could not find any silk or gumpaste but found a web site for traditional Scottish weddings.  I took a gumpaste calla lily and trimmed it down.  Then took a tear drop cutter and cut 3 dozen or so out and applied around the calla lily.  Then I took purple fun fur and arranged it inside for the thistle look.  The kilt pattern is what the men of the bride's family will be wearing.  I arranged the fondant down cake pans and let dry for 24 hours.(it should have been longer but i needed the pans for another cake)  Then it was just a matter of looking at the pattern and painting it on to the fondant.  It took about 3 hours to paint but was fun.
